Remains of the day
This capture was taken from inside the remains of EK Fawcett's home on Dolon Creek Rd. He settled this area living in a cave for 2 years from 1883 to 1885. He finally built this ranch house that was the center of activity for this remote area. By working and being paid in land he purchased over 88,000 acres that is now owned and protected by the Nature Conservancy and the Devils River Texas State Natural Area. This home was destroyed by lightening but many of his relatives and grandchildren who are patients of mine lived in and remember this home well. This old ranch home is an Icon for Val Verde County and a paradise for photography. We met a photography workshop group from Austin that came down to photograph here. I will post some other shots from EK Fawcett's historic home.
