View of EK Fawcett's Cave 1883
EK Fawcett was 18 when he drove sheep from Seguin. He took his payment in land and settled here. He lived in this shelter/cave for 2 years before building a log cabin. This land later belonged to his son HK Fawcett who was a patient of mine and recently died. EK's grandson John Keyes Finnegan is still a patient of mine and has written two books about this area and his families history while living on it. Jo Beth Fawcett is also a friend of my wife and patient of mine as well. This land has since been purchased by the Nature Conservancy where it is now protected for posterity and the descendants of EK maintain a great relationship with the Conservancy.
