Impaled Deer
The ancients that inhabited this area equated deer and peyote (which grew in this area). Peyote often grows in the indented deer tracts after a rain. Therefore deer=peyote=rain or water (necessary for life). The ancient would see the peyote, spear it which was equal to impaling the deer. All of the deer in this Mystic shelter are impaled. Much of these pictographs relate to the peyote/datura/nightshade intoxications that brought visions to the ancients.
