Excavation site Bonfire Shelter 41VV218
Members of the RockArtFoundation get only two tours of Mile Canyon and Bonfire Shelter each year located on private land owned by my friend Jack Skiles. The major excavation of this shelter was in 1964 the deepest layers constituting Bone Bed 1. Archeologist Dave Dribble published the most definitive source of information on Bonfire Shelter in 1968. Entrance to the shelter is at the upper middle and you can see the red/orange net over the bison bone remains at the mouth. Photographed people for scale had others without people. Emile
