Archeologists at Paint Canyon Shelter

This is an uninhabitable shelter that is more of an overhang but had a smooth wall that lent itself to easy painting on the walls. It was originally painted in the Pecos River Polychrome Style (now only seen on the ceiling due to constant flooding and washing away of the pictographs) and is now one of the two main representatives of the Red Monochrome Style Pictographs. This is a reasonably difficult shelter to get to, is on a private ranch and requires permission. This group of archeologist were on a "Pecos Experience 2008" with the Shumula School in which I participated.
