Over Painting in Panther Cave
Due to the long, thousands of years of being inhabited, "Panther Cave" located in a cove just off the Rio Grande has become replete with over paintings of one image on top of another. This has added to both the difficulty in interpretation as well as aiding in identification by separation of style, representation and art design. Blood Red, the favorite and dominant color was obtained by heating yellow hermatic nodules, iron oxide was also used to produce red and yellow pigments. Calcitite provided the white colors and Manganese dioxide yielded the black. the anthropomorph on the left holds a spear in one hand and a fending stick in the other. The "Ecstatic Anthropomorph" is very small and located just under the left arm of the Cross like solid red shaman.
