San Felipe, Texas Beginning of a Republic
Texas in the early days had 5 different capitals. San Felipe in 1826 was Stephen Austin's first but when the Declaration was finally signed in 1836 the Capital was in Washington on the Brazos but they had no printing press so the Declaration was sent back to this building in San Felipe where 1000 copies were printed in play bill form.
