Mile Canyon from top
This is a capture of mile canyon from the top and close to the mouth. You are looking at Eagles Nest Shelter that was inhabited over 2500 BC in the distant upper portion. This shelter was excavated by archeologist in the past and will be done so again this summer. It contains pictographs in the Pecos River Polychrome style that date to that time period as well as artifacts. You will see some of the artifacts in future posts. These captures will be just a few in a new project I am doing with regards to the sacred and spiritual power that resides in these canyons of the lower Pecos-Rio Grande Canyonland that are indeed the "Oldest Library in North America". I hope my captures can justify putting them on the World Map. Your comments are always welcome. Emile
