"Never Before" Amistad Dam 15 of 16 open
Alex stalled over the charge zone for Lake Amistad in North Mexico and West Texas and raised the lake level 5 feet an hour and 15 feet over night for several days. It trapped a lot of campers (no one died yet), many cars washed away and most facilities went underwater. Highest levels since 1954 flood. Never have more than 9 spill ways been open on this dam before. Now 15 of 16 are open spilling 360,000 gal/min but 450,000 gal/min are entering the lake so the lake levels are still rising.
